Where Moonshiners Roamed & Outlaws Hid

The hollows of Dry Creek were once among the most remote and lawless stretches of West Tennessee. Federal revenue agents destroyed 13 moonshine stills in Hardin County alone, including several right here in the Dry Creek community. The Thomas brothers — notorious wildcatters — ran their operations in these very hills through the 1890s and into the 1900s.

And legend has it that Jesse James himself passed through this corner of Tennessee, using the remote terrain as cover after robbing the Corinth Bank. The same rugged landscape that hid outlaws now invites adventurers.
